CREATING A USER PROFILE
First time users should click on the “Register” link located at the top right hand side of the site. Users will then be asked to fill out the required fields located on the register page. Finally, please read the user agreement before you submit your information and please remember your password
EDITING YOUR PROFILE
BIO
Users are asked to provide the site with a short description of themselves and their background.
CHANGE PASSWORD
Users can change their password in the edit profile area of the site. Please login and go to your "edit profile" area of your userpage to change your password.
ADDING A REPORT
REPORT TITLE
Select a title that is eye catching and interesting. Great titles = more views of your report.
SUMMARY OF FULL STORY
Users are encouraged to write a short summary for their reports. The summary will give other users an idea of what each report is about.
FULL STORY
Users are able to upload as many words as they would like to the site. Keep in mind that most users will not read a 100 page report, so please try to keep your text reports to a reasonable length that allows you to get your point across to other readers.
CATEGORY
Global Reporter has made it mandatory for users to select one category for their reports. Please select the categories that best describe the type of report you are uploading to the site.
REGION
Global Reporter has made it mandatory for its users to associate their report to a region in the world. Please select the appropriate region that indicates where the content of the report takes place.
ADDING A YOUTUBE OR VIMEO VIDEO
If you would like to add either a Youtube or Vimeo video to your report, simply copy the URL of the report you would like to add and then insert the entire URL into the media upload section of the submit a report page. You can also upload your own media by clicking choose file and selecting from a file located on your computer.
SOURCING
Please list the source where you have derived your information. Please copy the URL address of the site where you have found the material for your report.
DELETING A REPORT
If you would like to delete a report from your users page, please click on the delete button that is next to the report you have added in the past. Global Reporter does not allow its users to edit their reports, if you need to change part of your report, please remove the report and then re-submit the report with your changes.
HOW MANY FILES CAN I UPLOAD
You are able to upload as many reports as you would like.
ADDING A NEWSLINK
Users can also add a newslink to the site. Newslinks consist of a title, short summary and a link to a popular website or interesting article from around the web.

TWO TYPES OF REPORTS
Tags are given to the different type of reports that are featured on the site. Full reports have a red "Report" tag which indicates that this story is a full length report. Newslinks have a blue "Newslink" tag which indicates that the story is a link to an external website.

USING THE TOP STORIES DROP DOWNS ON THE HOMEPAGE
Users can customize the types of reports they view when they search the homepage. Users can select from all, reports or newslinks. Users can also customize the timeframe of the reports they view by selecting either fresh, top in 24, top in 7 days, top in 30 days and reports from all time
